Halftone 2 - Comic Book Creator

Gsound TV, Lyrics, Music & Movie Finder

Gsound TV, Lyrics, Music & Movie Finder

Background In a crowded market with strong players like Shazam dominating, Axwave wanted to do more than just identify songs, movies and TV shows. They wanted users to be able to discover and purchase related content and products. SFCD was selected to create a best-in-class sound recognition app. What we did We designed a differentiated user experience that makes the sound recognition process more enjoyable thanks to smart animations and interactions. We also developed the front end of the iPhone app working closely with the Axwave team leading back-end development. The entire project took us two months. ResultIn the three months after the launch, Gsound surpassed 300 thousand downloads and received hundreds of reviews on the App Store with an average rating of 4.5 stars.

Sing in the rain without forgetting the lyrics. Take your phone out in the storm. Select a song. And sing like you’re onstage in front of thousands—soaked. But at least you will get the words right, right?

Halftone 2 - Comic Book Creator

Background With over 2.5 million downloads, the original Halftone app was featured by Apple and earned a Starbucks Pick of the Week award among other accolades. We designed their first app icon and were hired again to design their new iPad app. What we did We worked closely with Mike Swanson, the creator of Halftone, designing a set of simple, yet powerful creative tools and combining them into a one-of-a-kind iPad experience. He implemented our designs in code once we delivered all the assets. For the app icon refresh, instead of using Photoshop, we used paper and scissors to construct it layer by layer. Then we took a photo of it and, with some small adjustments, turned it into the final icon. Result Launched in 2013, Halftone 2 became an Apple Editors’ Choice app on the day of its release. It was highlighted by Apple numerous times and has been featured in many app collections on the App Store.
