Description GoPuff is an on-demand delivery service offering hookahs, shisha, party essentials & more. Users can order over 2500 products with the apps or the website and have them at their door in 30 minutes. This complex project included both iOS and Android apps and a website, all designed and developed from scratch by MLSDev. Logo Concept and Variants For this logo, we began by choosing a number of images associated with the initial project concept, namely on-demand delivery of hookahs and shisha. Logo Variants Our designer then created several logo variants or versions to choose from. We presented the client with as many options as possible working with each concept. Final Logo Taking into account the results of our independent focus group, our client chose a final logo from among the different versions. The logo was ready after just a couple of finishing touches. Wireframes To provide a solid basis for development, our producer created the wireframes (50+ screens for each platform and the website) separately. After that, the mockups were groomed and finalized. Development Time spent on development of each part of the project is represented below. As this project is ongoing, we have a dedicated team constantly working on it. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gopuff/id722804810?mt=8 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.main.gopuff&hl=en
1. Initial request The client has addressed us with the request of creating an Android version of existing iOS app. Being a developer and designer himself the client provided the complete API documentation and final design assets for the project according to our requirements. 2. UI/UX A significant specialty of the project was the material design the client has created and wanted to implement. At the time it was quite new and our developers haven’t had opportunity to work with it, but only studied it in theory. So that was a really great chance to try our skills out in practice. 3. Case A unique UI element - Floating Action Button with custom changes has been implemented as a part of the project. The main difficulty in this regard was that we had to make the necessary realisation according to client’s requirements (blurred background instead of typical intensified one) from scratch as none of already existing open source solutions was applicable. 4. Development The Development team consisted of a senior Android developer and qualified scrum master. All works have been finished significantly faster than expected (ahead of optimistic quote). All in all the statistic for the development time of this project is as follows.
Description GeoTourist is a fun and easy way of getting more out of sightseeing experiences. This augmented-reality platform allows users to create location-based, multimedia guided tours enabling them to enjoy their trips and learn more as they travel. GeoTourist is a complex project that includes iOS and Android apps and a website, which our team developed from scratch. Color scheme The color scheme is a special feature of this app. When selecting it, we focused on the GeoTourist target audience: young travelers. The colors chosen are often associated with tourism and active leisure. Logo concept The pre-selected elements of the logo were chosen based on the initial GeoTourist concept, its functions, and our analysis of primary market competitors. Final logo To develop the final logo, we first made eight versions of prototypes. The best one was chosen according to the results of a focus group and customer preferences. This logo was then refined and improved until our client was happy with the final version. Wireframes At this stage our producer created 30+ mockups for each platform and for the website separately. The detailed wireframes were groomed and finalized with our UI/UX expert and developers. Typography The font is an important element of the app’s UI/UX. It was carefully chosen taking the general style and flat design tendencies into consideration. Design UI/UX The UI/UX design is seamlessly integrated with the wireframes and other elements (colors, logo, style and typography) to meet the requirements for each platform. Player Being one of the core elements of the entire project, the player definitely needed a facelift. Instead of a boring, standard view, we opted for a beautiful and easy-to-use customized player with a round progress bar. Development To achieve the final result, we had a dedicated team working on the app from start to release. The statistics for each stage of the process are represented below.
Description One of a kind social network experience available exclusively for college students. Incorporating the best features of popular apps erodr creates unique user experience and gives its users freedom to do what they want. A private place to hang out with your “rodies” and stay updated whatever happens on campus. The Story The story behind the erodr project might seem too usual: it all started with the request to build the Android version of an existing iOS app. At that time the platform has already had some core audience, so the client has entrusted us to do that. The task wasn’t an easy one as we had to build the app from scratch having only iOS version at hand. But our dedicated team has successfully coped with the task and gave the world erodr as it is now. Final results Having the Android app successfully completed our team has then totally taken over the development on both platforms at the customer's option. So what had begun as a simple task, evolved then into long lasting and fruitful cooperation we couldn’t be more proud of. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.erodr.erodr https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/erodr/id575044187?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
Initial request type. The client reached out after visiting our website and requested help with building out his app concept. He provided concept doc with basic storyboard and major use-cases. The main concept behind the idea of Mynga was “When LinkedIn meets WhatsApp“ - social network for blue-collar workers with instant messenger features. Target users and market research. As the client planned to launch the app on European market initially (Switzerland, France, Germany) and to target the blue-collar workers and unemployed workmen, our producers studied the market share of mobile OS usage within this niche. As a result, we agreed to start with Android, it being the most widely used OS for this audience. Competitors analysis To be aware of the major players in the target market, we made a research regarding the existing apps in the given niche. Based on this analysis we come to the conclusion that there were no offers currently that would combine the features of LinkedIn and instant messengers as WhatsApp or Viber, so the niche market was ready for our product. Business plan As the client was a self-funded startuper, relatively new to the IT sphere, our specialists helped him to prepare the basic business plan based on business model canvas and lean startup principles. Wireframing Based on the initial concept and the functionality that our client envisioned, our producer created #+ of clickable wireframes to cover 100% of the functionality of the app. This allowed us to plan the architecture of the app to be able to add required features in the future. MVP defining Our team analysed the existing wireframes and helped the client define the Minimum Viable Product that could be developed within the given timeframe and budget. This first version of the app included only the basic functionality needed for the first release. This step was really important in order to get initial feedback from the target users as well as to see the virality of the concept itself without significant losses and within minimum possible timeframe. Logo creation This step was the first task we faced during the design development. The final logo concept was chosen based on the results of independent focus group. The style and colours defined at this point were later applied to the whole UI of the app. UI design The design of the app is a typical clean UI of a social network, not overcrowded by the unnecessary animations and other visual effects. Such UI is used to enhance the usability of the app but still keep it simple and minimalistic. Development After the design was finalised, our team proceeded with its implementation, building the app’s UI and logic as well as required backend infrastructure. Exact time required for every aspect of the development process is presented below. Final results As a result of our work, we have delivered a fully functional MVP product ready for the market.
1. Initial request The client is a fast-growing startup from the Silicon Valley. Targeting high school and college students, the concept was to provide all-in-one study and research tool combining notes and access to Wikipedia. 2. Proof of concept The main aim of POC for this project was to investigate the capabilities of the Wikipedia API and make sure that we can create native text editor within the app as required. As a result, the first part of the POC has been really successful: within a couple of days instead of the estimated week we have delivered the required results. As for the text editor, we have searched for any native open-source solutions but did not succeed. Our iOS team has investigated available projects incorporating similar text editors but has come to the conclusion that such task would require much more time that we even thought. So we have started the development from scratch. 3. Development Trying to create the required text editor from scratch, we have succeeded in some aspects of it, as adding photos and indentation. The main problem was to create numbered and bullet lists. The results were not of the required quality so we agreed to leave that out for now and finish MVP as soon as possible to try and catch the second semester. Getting feedback first was crucial for the client’s further plans. 4. Final results After getting reject for the first time we have made some rearrangements according to the AppStore review team recommendations. So the app has been successfully submitted to the store. IPad version was to follow.
